The time span of pregnancy is a long period of nine months which is also calculated as 40 weeks. During this period there occurs various changes in the body of the pregnant woman. Week 1 – Week 5
Just after the formation of a zygote by the fusion of sperm and ovum, implantation occurs which cause slight bleeding also known as spotting. Most of the women get confused between spotting and menstruation. However, spotting is lighter than menstruation and occurs for 1 or 2 days. After the implantation, hCG (Human chorionic gonadotropin) hormone production starts inside the body. It is the main factor which gives the positivity of the pregnancy test. Due to the change in hormone mood swings occurs which may cause depression, can make feel emotional, angry, sometimes happy and insecure at the same time. The signs of pregnancy are soreness of breasts, feeling tired, headache, nausea, constipation and vomiting.
Week 6 – Week 10
By this time, you must become sure about your pregnancy and started to have morning sickness. Although the baby bump does not start to show, you must have put on some weights and the clothes had become tight. The skin is going through lots of changes, might become prone to acne. You may be developing a strong craving for ice-creams, pickles or some other foods. But be careful about the eating plan provided by the dietician. One more thing that must be kept in mind is that must eat more to get extra calories. The uterus had started to increase and the volume of blood continuously increases during this stage. It causes dizziness, frequent urination and the veins become prominent beneath the skin. Due to the increase in the hCG and progesterone increases the number of oil secretion glands. This helps in increasing the glow of the skin.
Week 11 – Week 15
The pregnancy hormones show both the good and bad effect during this time. By this time the morning sickness becomes ease and the woman feels more energetic. The uterus had fully grown to start from the upper abdomen to the lower it completely fills the pelvis. Skin and the muscle tissues are stretching to provide space for the growing baby. The uterus can be felt around 3-4 inches below the navel. The legs might feel like pinpricks and there is a feeling of fatigue as well as tiredness. The skin darkening occurs in most of the women so spending time in the sun must be avoided.
